# Video editing & creator workloads

Choose a computer using the whole workload, not RAM alone.

## Intended workload
The 16 GB tier targets light social-video editing, captions, trimming and straightforward exports. A useful acceptance test is a representative 1080p project with measured preview responsiveness, export time, memory usage and desktop-stream quality.

## Hardware matters
CPU generation, integrated/dedicated graphics, hardware encoding, disk speed, driver support and the footage codec all affect performance. RAM does not create a GPU. GPU passthrough or virtual graphics on a guest must be verified on the actual ThinkCentre.

## 8 GB versus 16 GB
8 GB installed RAM is a browsing/automation position; the OS and management reserve use part of it. 16 GB improves headroom but does not justify a promise of professional 4K editing, many parallel creators or local large-model inference.

## CapCut and other software
CapCut lists a lower minimum and recommends more memory, stronger CPUs and GPU capacity for heavier work. Validate the installed software, account requirements and applicable licensing before selling a managed editing desktop. Paid effects or subscriptions are not included merely because an app is installed.
