COMPUTERUSE PROXMOX HOST CONVERSION - PREPARATION ONLY

This folder is NOT a bootable Proxmox installer. It prepares a machine-specific migration record. No disk is formatted by these files.

Extract the folder on the ThinkCentre. Run Prepare-Host.cmd, approve administrator access, review the internal disks and select the exact target. Read the wipe warning. Confirm a verified recovery backup (or explicitly declare no data to preserve), then type the displayed ERASE phrase including the computer name and disk serial.

The generated computeruse-host-preflight.json contains hardware identifiers, target disk and your backup declaration. It does not contain your enrollment password or worker key. Share it privately with your ComputerUse operator; do not publish it.

Before generating an unattended image, the operator must verify that the disk serial matches Proxmox's udev ID_SERIAL_SHORT/ID_SERIAL properties. Windows and Linux can report different serial formats. Missing, ambiguous or wildcard disk identifiers must never be accepted. Prepare one image per selected disk; do not automatically select disk 0 or /dev/sda.

The operator then creates a private, limited enrollment grant, a root recovery credential, the Proxmox answer file and the pinned first-boot worker hook. Validate those with proxmox-auto-install-assistant and rehearse a disposable VM install before writing the boot USB. Only the later booted installer will erase the selected disk and install Proxmox.

An enrolled Proxmox node remains unavailable for rentals until its guest desktop controller, isolation, power recovery and deletion tests pass. Partner hosts also require qualification. The currently published Windows reporting client does not perform this conversion.
