Dedicated host versus virtual computer

Dedicated physical host: one ThinkCentre is reserved for one customer. Its CPU and installed memory are not sold again to another customer during that allocation.

Virtual computer: a separate operating system runs as a guest inside the physical host. A VM can have its own encrypted disk, network boundary and management lifecycle. Using one VM on one dedicated host does not turn the product into a shared-host rental.

Recommended deployment

Reserve one host per customer and expose a managed guest where hardware and Windows licensing permit it. Keep host administrator credentials and the management network outside the customer guest. This makes clean rebuilds and optional image-based recovery more practical.

This is the deployment recommendation, not a claim that the pilot machines have already been converted. Installing a hypervisor may require a separately scheduled reinstallation and verified backup.

Installed memory is not application memory

An 8 GB physical machine cannot provide an 8 GB VM while also leaving safe RAM for its hypervisor. Determine the reservation through measurement, disable memory overcommit for this product and publish the actual guest allocation. Upgrade physical RAM if the advertised product promises 8 GB or 16 GB inside the guest.

Dedication and administration are separate

A whole-host rental does not imply permission to administer the hypervisor, company network or another tenant's storage. Guest administration and arbitrary software installation are product permissions that must be explicitly granted and tested.
